Javier Quislant was born in Bilbao, Spain in 1984 and lives in Getxo, Spain.
He studied at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya and completed both master’s degrees in music theater and composition with Beat Furrer at the University of Art in Graz. He has worked with numerous international ensembles, received awards and honors and is also President of the Composers’ Union of the Basque Country.

He describes himself as a composer who, from a contemporary perspective, creates music for a variety of formations, ranging from string quartets to ensembles and symphony orchestras. In doing so, he also combines the traditional tonal use of instruments or voices with electronic elements. The connection between language, literature and film art became a focus of his artistic interests.
