Virginie Tarrête, harp
After studying the harp and chamber music at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris with Marie-Claire Jamet and Francis Pierre (diploma with distinction in 1992), she continued her training at the Freiburg University of Music with Ursula Holliger. Her repertoire ranges from early to contemporary music. As a soloist, she has been invited to perform at international festivals. In particular, she values the close collaboration with composers such as Mark Andre, Franck Bedrossian, Luciano Berio, Brian Ferneyhough, Herlmut Lachenmann, François Paris, Wolfgang Rihm, Wolfram Schurig, and Charles Wuorinen in joint recording projects of their works. She has also performed with conductors such as Pierre Boulez, Sylvain Cambreling, and Emilio Pomàrico. She has played with a number of renowned ensembles such as musikFabrik, ensemble recherche, and Ensemble l’Itineraire. She became a member of Klangforum Wien in 2007. Together with László Hudacsek, she founded the duo HarPerc in 2012 in order to develop repertoire for harp and percussion. As a result of her interest in the interpretation of the early music repertoire on historical instruments, she founded the duo Sebastien Erard together with Alain Roudier (hammerclavier) with whom she performs works of the eighteenth and nineteenth century. She appears regularly with the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique conducted by Sir John Eliot Gardiner. Since 2008, Virginie Tarrête also teaches the harp at the Conservatoire Régional de Dijon.
