SUMMARY:MaerzMusik – Opening – A Garden of Forking Paths
DESCRIPTION:MaerzMusik – Opening – A Garden of Forking Paths \n March 18\,\n17.00 - \n00.00 \n Gropius Bau\, Berlin\, Germany \nWithin a three hours’ space of time\, “A Garden of Forking Paths” invites the audience to wander\, float and focus on listening\, alone and with others. The opening of MaerzMusik – Festival for Time Issues 2022 offers a place of encounter under the capacious roof of the Gropius Bau. Archipelagos of music and sound inhabit the spacious environment of one of Berlin’s most beautiful exhibition buildings – from the vast atrium and corridors to show rooms – waiting to be discovered\, calling for attention\, asking to be followed. \nWithin this relational landscape of sound\, space\, time and visitors\, MaerzMusik invites you to find your own rhythm and your own path\, to gather\, disperse and reassemble. For pandemic reasons we provide three openings with nearly identical programmes. \nKlangforum Wien will play solo works by Rebecca Saunders\, Georges Aperghis\, Toshio Hosokawa\, Liza Lima\, Olga Neuwirth\, Salvatore Sciarrino\, Enno Poppe and John Cage at the opening concert. \nText: Berliner Festspiele \nGet your ticket hereWebsite EventRebecca Saunders\n– Flesh (2018)\nKrassimir Sterev\, accordion \nRebecca Saunders\n– Dust (2017/18)\nBjorn Wilker\, percussion \nToshio Hosokawa\n– Voice (2020)\nMikael Rudolfsson\, trombone \nToshio Hosokawa\n– Senn VI (1993)\nLukas Schiske\, percussion \nSalvatore Sciarrino\n– Ai Limiti Della Note (1979)\nBenedikt Leitner\, violoncello \nToshio Hosokawa\n– Spell Song (2015)\nMarkus Deuter\, oboe \nOlga Neuwirth\n– Fumbling and Tumbling (2018)\nAnders Nyqvist\, trompet \nLiza Lim\n– Wild winged-one (2007)\nAnders Nyqvist\, trompet \nSalvatore Sciarrino\n– Agitato cantabile – Capriccio sulla lontananza (2020)\nChristoph Walder\, horn \nGeorges Aperghis\n– Simulacre IV (1995)\nOlivier Vivarès\, bass clarinet \nToshio Hosokawa\n– Haiku for Pierre Boulez (2000/03)\nFlorian Müller\, piano \nRebecca Saunders\n– Shadow (2013)\nFlorian Müller\, piano \nSalvatore Sciarrino\n– Due notturni crudeli (2001)\nFlorian Müller\, piano \nEnno Poppe\n– Fell (2016)\nAlex Lipowski\, percussion \nJohn Cage\n– One7 (1990)\nKrassimir Sterev Akkordeon \nJohn Cage\n– One7 (1990)\nBenedikt Leitner\, Violoncello \nJohn Cage\n– One7 (1990)\nChristoph Walder\, Horn \nTBC \nRebecca Saunders | Georges Aperghis | Toshio Hosokawa | Salvatore Sciarrino | Liza Lim | Olga Neuwirth | Enno Poppe | John Cage
